Several schools from eMalahleni have qualified for the upcoming 2026 District Winter Games after delivering impressive performances during the Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation (DCSR) in partnership with the Department of Education (DOE) Winter Games held on Wednesday at the Witbank High School grounds.
The selections once again showcased the depth of sporting talent developing in local schools, with teams in football, rugby and volleyball earning the chance to represent eMalahleni at district-level.
The District Winter Games are set to bring together top-performing schools from across the six municipalities of the Nkangala District, promising a showcase of talent and competitive determination.
The DCSR and DOE has continued to emphasise the importance of school sport in youth development, talent identification and community upliftment. The programme not only creates opportunities for young athletes to showcase their abilities, but also encourages discipline, teamwork and healthy lifestyles among learners.
