The Emalahleni Local Municipality, in collaboration with ABSA Bank, hosted a Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Handover Ceremony at Phillip Ndimande Secondary School on Tuesday, 14 October 2025. The initiative forms part of ABSA’s ongoing efforts to support sustainable water and energy solutions in schools across the region.
As part of the project, three Emalahleni schools, Phillip Ndimande Secondary, Black Hill Primary, and Mgibe Primary received Jojo water tanks and solar lighting systems. The donations aim to enhance water accessibility and provide reliable lighting, thereby improving the learning environment for both students and teachers.
The ceremony brought together officials from ABSA Bank, the Department of Education, and the Emalahleni Local Municipality. Executive Mayor Cllr Vusi Nhlapho extended heartfelt gratitude to ABSA for its continued investment in education and sustainable infrastructure development within the city.
In his remarks, the Mayor highlighted the significance of partnerships between government and the private sector, noting that such collaborations are crucial in meeting community needs and extending service delivery beyond municipal resources.
“The work we do together creates lasting impact,” said Nhlapho. “When businesses and government unite, we not only provide resources but also build hope and resilience in our communities.”
The event concluded with the official handover of the donated items a symbolic gesture of shared responsibility and commitment to fostering better educational conditions and sustainable development in Emalahleni.
