Steinmüller Africa, in collaboration with Eskom’s Duvha Power Station team, demonstrated its commitment to social upliftment by delivering essential goods to two important community organisations in eMalahleni: Emalahleni Child and Family Welfare and the Elkana Educational Centre.
Over two days, the team brought groceries, toiletries, and sanitary towels to support both organisations in their ongoing service to vulnerable groups. Steinmüller Africa’s efforts are part of its wider Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiatives aimed at communities within and around its operational footprint.
At the Elkana Educational Centre, a non-profit institution catering to children with diverse abilities across pre-junior to senior phases, the visit was heartfelt and engaging. The team spent quality time playing netball, football, and enjoying swings with the learners, making it a morning filled with joy and connection. “This contribution will go a long way in supporting the children. The time spent with them today will leave a lasting impression,” said Stacey Jansen, Principal of Elkana Educational Centre.
Meanwhile, Emalahleni Child and Family Welfare, an organisation deeply rooted in community support for over 87 years, also welcomed the donations warmly. “Our ability to serve our beneficiaries depends heavily on the generosity of businesses like Steinmüller Africa and Eskom. This support makes a tangible difference in the lives of many,” remarked Lerato J Bam, Board Secretary of the organisation.
Representing Steinmüller Africa, Acting Project Manager Thomas Maduna emphasized that company staff, many residing within these very communities—take pride in witnessing their employer make an impact that matters. “While these donations offer immediate relief, they also instil pride among our employees… Knowing their company is actively effecting positive change is both motivating and meaningful,” he said.
Echoing this sentiment, Steinmüller Africa Director Moso Bolofo added: “It is not just about what we give, but how we connect. We don’t only build infrastructure, but also hope, dignity and lasting relationships.”
Beneficiaries: Elkana Educational Centre and Emalahleni Child and Family Welfare.
Donations: Groceries, toiletries, sanitary towels.
Engagement: Community-building activities, including playground time and sports.
Statements: Leaders from both beneficiary organisations expressed gratitude.
Corporate Messaging: Emphasised connection with community, employee pride, and long-term impact beyond transactional giving.
This outreach extends far beyond material aid. For Elkana Educational Centre, it brought both practical support and priceless emotional uplift for children who benefit from inclusive education and care. For Emalahleni Child and Family Welfare, it reinforced their capacity to support community members in need across a broad demographic.
The initiative also fostered unity by showing solidarity—highlighting that large operational stakeholders like Steinmüller Africa and Eskom see themselves as part of the Emalahleni community, not separate from it.
